The Patriots just signed Vinny Testaverde.
Wait, what?
The Pats signed him, despite the fact that he retired.... two years ago. Last year, he was retired, but he came in for the Jets when they had no quarterbacks left. And didn't help them much. This year, I thought he was almost certainly retired, but now, he's on the Pats' roster. Apparently, they're a little worried about how Tom Brady has looked (he might have a bum shoulder) and they want a more experienced backup if he goes down.
Now, I can't question Belichick too much after the man won 3 Super Bowls. He's always got something up his hoodie sleeve. But really? Vinny T.? If Tom Brady does indeed go down, this offense is done and a 43-year old guy is not bringing it back. They have projects and retreads at receiver, but they've managed to do good with his great manuevering. But they refused to spend on backups to him and quality skill players, and now they could potentially be in major trouble. Defenses respect Brady, but if he goes down, they're gonna laugh at old man VT coming in. Belichick might be a football genius, but he won't win one game with either of Brady's backups (the one who is there already didn't even start in college, albeit behind two Heisman winners). Good people of New England, you can start feeling nervous again for the first time in years. Didn't you miss that feeling?
