The San Francisco Re-Treat

A big day for football fans alike, the San Fran 49ers ended talks with the city and plan on leaving Frisco for points south in California. Read More Here. This is crazy, espiecally for the long time 49er fans (Stev, Rob Ealer, etc.) that a city like San Fran can't accomodate the teams push for a new stadium. It's probably because San Fran has been losing jobs faster than many other cities, but to me that seems like a great oppurtunity to get the city with the most homeless and unemployed a chance to get some jobs. So what are the implications here? Not much, if you ask me. Teams move all the time. The kicker is will they keep the Niners name. If not, the legacy will live on, but the dream will not be remembered by new generations.

Discuss.

OH MAN!!! YOU BEAT ME TO IT!!!

I can't believe I was just about to write about this and Tsikitas stole my thunder. See? Give yourself some credit, Paul. You're paying more attention to sports than you claim.

I already wrote a couple weeks ago about about the prospects of teams movign to LA. San Fran wouldn't change much, but I think that would eb bad. Too much history and too many fans.

But...

I would love to have the LA Niners, because teh name doesn;t make sense (like all the other teams here) and I know most people would eventually coem to refer to them as the 69ers. Which would eb great.
